Golden Years Care-CDHC

Client Directed Home Care
It is a program designed to give eligible individuals more choice and control over their publicly funded home care services.
What is Client Directed Home Care (CDHC/CDHCI)
-
Choice and Control: It is a service delivery option that allows a client (or a person managing their care) to choose an approved private home care agency to deliver the services authorized by Alberta Health Services (AHS).
-
Publicly Funded: The care hours are funded by AHS, meaning the eligible services are provided at no or low cost to the client.
-
Direct Invoicing: The "I" in CDHCI stands for Invoicing. Instead of the client paying upfront and seeking reimbursement, the approved private agency bills Alberta Blue Cross directly for the authorized hours of care.
Services Provided
The services you receive are determined by an assessment from an AHS Case Manager, but they generally include:
Eligibility Criteria
-
Personal Care: Assistance with scheduled tasks like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
-
Homemaking Services: Tasks essential to keeping the client safely in their home, such as cleaning the client's bathroom, incontinence laundry, or removing garbage.
-
Respite Care: Services to provide a break for informal (family/friend) caregivers.
